Jury trial listed for 5 days, lasts 1 hour before judge directs acquittal

Criminal lawyer Joseph Correy appeared in a trial this week for a client charged with threatening a witness. The trial was listed for 5 days but the judge directed the jury to acquit after the star witness lasted in the witness box for 30 minutes before the prosecution threw their hands up in defeat. The whole trial lasted about 1.5 hours.

The acquittal gave Joseph Correy time to do a marathon bail application for a client charged with domestic violence offences the next afternoon. The bail application went for longer than the trial and resulted in the magistrate granting bail.
